We all know the feeling of standing at the edge of the land, facing the sea where the ground beneath us seems solid, yet constantly changes.
This sculpture is inspired by the Portuguese coastline, where erosion is not just a geological process, but a quiet reminder of how fragile even the strongest places can be.
This sculpture is part of the “The Tide Line” exhibition in LACS Santos during the Lisbon Design Week 2025.
Using soft linen from the Alentejo, the piece contrasts with the rough, porous stones that define the coast. This contrast speaks to the paradox of coastal landscapes: they seem harsh and wild, yet they protect us, offer comfort, and shape the places we call home.
The sculpture reflects on forms that fall, shift, and evolve - mirroring the transformation of nature and our own human vulnerability. It is a call to notice, to care, and to recognize that these changing shores are not just scenery, but essential to our lives.
